My First Podcast

by Jeff on Sep.20, 2008, under Uncategorized

I wanted to try something new, so I thought I would create a podcast, audio only. I have never done one before, and I am still learning.

I have attempted to publish my podcasts using two different plugins avaialble to WordPress users. The first, podPress, looked very promising. It had a beautiful interface and lots of configurable features. Best of all, it had a great statistics menu that allowed you to see all of your podcasts and the download frequency, play frequency, etc. The problem was I couldn’t get it to work with my website. I honestly think it was a problem with the plugin.

Because of the problems I had that plugin, I tried another one titled Buberry Podpress. I was able to figure out how to configure this one and make it work. However, there is supposed to be an empedded player for your podcast at the end of each post. That doesn’t seem to be the case. Users have to download my podcast in order to listen to it.

I’m sure I will learn more and make better podcasts as time goes on. I will experiment with both voice and video podcasts. This one is strictly voice, and the content is not very strong. It was simply created just to make sure I could do it.Regardless, download it and take a listen. If you play it in QuickTime or view it on your video iPod, you should see the section titles come up, and a different picture should come up at the start of each section.

Enjoy!
