Homeward Bound

I’m extremely surprised that I slept at all last night, but I did. I slept a full 6 hours which is quite rare for me. When I woke up this morning, all that was required was a quick shower and to throw my remaining toiletries in my luggage and go.
As advised by American Express Travel, I arrived at the airport 3 hours early. I think I am flying a brand new airlines named OpenSkies. I believe they are somehow related to British Airways and I was able to use my British Airways Executive Club membership to earn miles.
I have to say, if this is a new airlines, so far I am quite impressed. When I gave them my British Airway Executive Club number, I was immediately invited to the VIP lounge. The staff in the lounge is friendly, the bar is stocked, WiFi is free (as it should be everywhere), and there are little snacks everywhere. From the research I did on the OpenSkies website, they are a Business Class airlines, meaning that all the seats and services on the plane are what you would expect from a regular airlines business class service. I’ll report back to you after the flight and let you know.
Overall, Paris was a great experience I am glad I did it. I enjoyed myself, but I think I was there a week too long. Once the work was done and I went into ‘Trainer’ mode, I didn’t have any patience left. I got out just before I blew a gasket. But ass excited as I am to get home, I know the next couple of days are going to be stressful. Although homeward bound, I’m actually packing up my home and putting everything into storage. With the expectation of being in Europe for at least another four months, there is no reason to pay New York City rent when I won’t even be in New York City. If everything goes according to plan, all of the chaos should come to an end when I actually finish the packing and the moving.
Saturday night is reserved for the Peter Rauhofer dance party that is supposed to be held at the Santos Party House. I’ve missed all my dancing buddies – friends from New York City to Boston. I am trying to make sure they will all be there to dance with me Saturday night. I haven’t had any problems convincing the New York City folks of being there – it’s the Boston folks I might have to do a little begging for.
So – New York City for a week and then the next stop is Germany. Auf Wiedersehen!
Splash, Detox, And Be Sinful This Weekend In NYC
by Jeff on May.14, 2009, under Music, Nightlife and Events
There’s nothing like spring and summer in New York City. The people are definitely coming out from hibernation, and the list of weekend activities in and around New York City is plentiful. I’ve been watching my mailing lists and parsing Facebook groups for new or different events that I haven’t yet attended. I have placed details to different events on my Calendar of Futility, but I thought I might mentions few that I intend to try out this weekend.
DJ Eddie Elias @ Splash – (Friday) -I personally don’t mind going to Splash, especially when there is a good DJ like Eddie Elias spinning. With a John Blair card, you can get into this event for free if you arrive before night.
Delicioso Saturdays @ DTOX – (Saturday) – This is a new New York City party with a Latin flavor. I’ve met and hung out with both Lisa Bonelli and Yamil and I know their brand of fun. With these two backing this event, I feel this party has promise even before I’ve attended.
Sinful Sundays @ The Ritz – (Sunday) – A new, weekly Tea Dance promoted by MAJestic NYC, this is where you want to wrap your weekend up with 1/2 price drinks between 4 and 8 pm. DJ Justin Ryan plays hot dance, pop, and Euro House tracks all afternoon until 10 pm. Beach attire encouraged. The May 17th edition of Sinful Sundays is proud to be the official after party of NYC AIDSWALK 2009. Walk on Sunday and receive a FREE COCKTAIL at the Ritz!!
These are the three events I plan to attend this weekend in NYC. What about you guys? Leave comments here if you plan to or if you end up attending any of these events. I’d like to know what you think.
Winter Party 2009
by Jeff on Jan.06, 2009, under Nightlife and Events
I think I’m going to attend the Winter Party Festival again this year. Last year was my first trip to the Winter Party, and I had an amazing time. I met a lot of cool people that I still see at some of the other parties I have been to over the past year. And now that I know what to expect from this party, I think I can plan accordingly and have a really good time.
A quick check of the DJ list and I see a few names that I recognize. Tracy Young is set to play at the Beach Party this year. That makes me happy. Last year it Joe Gauthreaux was the DJ for the Beach Party. I wasn’t impressed – not when he played at the Beach Party nor when I saw him again at New York City’s Gay Pride Pier Dance. This year he’s at an event titled 5 Ring Circuit. I think it was a good idea to mix Joe in with the likes of Manny Lehman and Eddie Baez, two other DJ’s playing for that event. Hopefully he won’t be the last DJ of the event.
One name I fail to see for any event is Peter Rauhofer. Peter made the Winter Party for me last year when he played at the Red Eye party. It was amazing – right up to the point where there was some drama in the DJ booth and Peter stormed off, angry about something. I think it had something to do with one of the venue workers blowing the air horn while Peter was playing and Peter didn’t like it. I agree with Peter – NO AIR HORN!
I only have a week or two to make up my mind and decide whether I can actually attend or not. Attending this party doesn’t exactly coincide with my other goal of becoming debt free by the year’s end. But, it will definitely give me an opportunity to show the time I have been spending at the gym by then. Who knows, maybe I’ll pick me up a hottie this year!
