Same-sex marriage battle moves to Maine – CNN.com.

I hate when people, gay or straight, try to make this whole thing about ‘re-defining’ marriage. It’s about equal rights for all citizens. You don’t have to re-define marriage as long as you recognize that marriage is a religious ceremony. I’m all for re-defining civil union – let’s redefine that and say that a civil union is the process in which government recognizes the legal joining of two individuals in order to define legal rights of survivorship, federal tax benefits, and a host of other governmental rights that should be available to ALL people.
