On My Mind

I think I’ve found the most annoying noise in the world; it’s the buzzing sound coming from my speakers / amplifier on my home entertainment unit. I don’t know when it started. For all I know, that buzzing could have been there since I’ve owned the damned thing, but this week it’s just driving me particularly crazy and I can’t explain why.

It’s the loudest sound in the world to me. It drowns out anything that is playing on the TV. All I hear is ‘zzzzzzzzzz.’ Do you want to know what’s even crazier than that? I have to sleep with the TV on, I need the distraction. But now, I can’t fall asleep because of the buzz. It’s always there, I can always here it, and it never fails to distract me from my task at hand, whether that’s supposed to be sleeping or just enjoying the television.

What’s even more crazy than that is that I can’t exactly decide why I find it so annoying. Is it that I am forever anticipating a loud POP that still hasn’t happened? Maybe it’s because that’s the sound I hear coming from the speaker systems in the club when the music has finally stopped and I thereby associate it with ‘the party’s over!’

I think I have a new favorite song of the moment as well. Have you ever heard Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Soulmate?’ I’m loving it right now. I’ve had it playing on an endless loop on my iPhone all day. I feel like I could have wrote the song. If you haven’t heard it, go listen – pay attention to the words.

When is the iPhone 3.0 software update going to be available? All I keep hearing is ‘this summer.’ When is that? Joel McHale even made jokes about it on ‘The Soup.’ Why can’t we have a date?

Change is coming. I will no longer be working at the same customer site that I have been working at for the past three years. I am excited and nervous all at once. Not having an actual customer to work for puts a lot of free time on my schedule. Will I use it wisely?
