WordPress 2.6 Upgrade

I have to admit, I was scared. I didn’t have to perform the initial installation of my WordPress blog, GoDaddy is nice enough to perform several application installations for their users. The upgrade directions found in the downloaded folder seemed too good to be true.
- Delete your old WP files, saving ones you’ve modified.
- Upload the new files.
- Point your browser to /wp-admin/upgrade.php.
- You wanted more, perhaps? That’s it!
And that was it. However, when I pointed to the upgrade.php page, my blog opened with a 404 error. I immediately panicked. However, as soon as I entered the site admin area, WordPress recognized that I had upgraded the software and that I had to upgrade my databases. I clicked on the provided button. Within seconds, my database was updated and I was back in business.
I was smart, though. I had backed up my entire WordPress directory before even attempting the upgrade. Thank goodness or Starbucks Internet access. I was able to feed my caffeine addiction, upgrade WordPress, purchase a new domain, and make little tweaks to the this website all at once. Yes, I did more tweaking here on the website.
Did any of you notice the changes? Well, here’s what I did:
- increased the spacing between paragraphs so they didn’t look so jumbled together
- fixed the style of lists, ordered and unordered
- decreased the space between the lines in a single paragraph
I guess you’d have to be an accute repeat visitor to notice the changes, but just know that I did them for you! OK, that’s not completely true. I did it for my OCD, too!
