My Exercise In Futility

I wasn’t feeling very well on the 4th of July, my allergies are usually in full swing every July. My nose was running, my throat was sore from the post nasal drip, and I had a headache. So I did what any logical allergy sufferer would do - I pumped myself full of Claritin D and DayQuil and headed to Hoboken to hang out with my friends Amanda, Rainey, and Kyle.

Amanda and I have been living in the New York / New Jersey area for just over two years. Actually, Amanda has been here a few months longer than I have. Rainey and Kyle are friends of ours from Virginia. Rainey and Kyle don’t make it up here much; as a matter of fact, this is the first time I’ve actually met Kyle. I couldn’t possibly deprive the poor boys of my presence! No visit to Virginia is complete without time with me!

The opposite is true for me when it comes to getting to hang out with Rainey. Amanda always teases me that my straight boyfriend is coming for a visit. Rainey reminds me of my friend Paul. Paul and Rainey are those kind of guys that say they are comfortable enough with their sexuality  that they don’t care about yours one way or the other - and it’s actually true. It makes them both 10 times more attractive. But, I digress. The point is, Paul and Rainey are great friends to have.
